The Roots Deepen – Strength in the Unseen Places
Sometimes, the deepest growth in our lives happens where no one can see it. Just like the roots of a tree push down into the soil—drawing strength, stability, and nourishment—our spiritual lives are strengthened when we invest in daily habits that keep us connected to God.
In this week’s episode of Rooted for Growth, I share a story from Shel Silverstein’s The Missing Piece that captures this truth. The character spends its days searching for what it believes will make it complete, only to discover that sometimes what we think we need can actually rob us of the joy found in the journey.
It’s a reminder that in our own lives, the “missing piece” is not always another achievement, relationship, or comfort—it’s the depth of connection we cultivate with Christ through prayer, Scripture, and stillness.
Psalm 1:2 (KJV) says, “But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.”
When we delight in God’s Word and make time to sit with Him daily, we anchor ourselves in truth that can weather any storm. Without those practices, it’s easy to drift—sometimes without even noticing—until we feel distant from the God who never moved.
This episode will encourage you to see your unseen spiritual habits as the real work of growth. Whether life is busy, calm, or in transition, these daily disciplines will keep your heart rooted and your spirit steady.
