🌿 Episode 23: A Word in the Waiting

Rooted for Growth Podcast • Faith & Spiritual Growth • Trusting God’s Timing • Devotional Journey

There’s a sacred tension in the waiting.

It’s the place between prayer and promise… between what you hoped for and what you see.

Most of us don’t like waiting. We want to know what’s next, to see how things turn out, to feel like we’re moving forward. But what if waiting isn’t punishment — what if it’s preparation?

In this week’s episode of Rooted for Growth, I talk about the seasons where God’s silence feels loud, and time seems to stand still. Those seasons can test our faith more than any battle ever could. But they can also grow something deeper — a kind of faith that doesn’t depend on quick answers, but on steady trust.

When God Seems Quiet

I’ve had seasons where I prayed and nothing seemed to move. Doors stayed closed. Dreams sat on hold. Even my own words to God felt like they were echoing back unanswered.

But over time, I realized something: silence doesn’t mean absence.

God’s voice often sounds like stillness.
His timing often looks like waiting.

And sometimes, He’s doing His greatest work beneath the surface — shaping our hearts before He shifts our circumstances.

“The Lord is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him.”
— Lamentations 3:25 (KJV)

That verse reminds me that waiting isn’t wasted when it’s done in faith. The soil of stillness is often where roots grow deepest.

Waiting Changes You

When we wait on God, we learn dependence.
When we wait long enough, we learn surrender.
And in surrender, we find peace — not because we have control, but because we finally trust the One who does.

Isaiah 40:31 says,

“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”

That’s not just poetic encouragement. It’s a promise.

Waiting renews strength because it redirects focus. It pulls our eyes off the outcome and back onto the Source. And when we learn to see God in the pause, we start to find purpose in what we once called delay.

Preparing for What’s Next

This message leads us directly into the launch of my new devotional, “Rooted for Growth: A 7-Week Journey to God’s Word for Your Season,” coming November 3 — just six days from now.

This devotional was written out of my own seasons of waiting. Seasons where I wanted answers, but God was shaping identity. Seasons where the prayer wasn’t “Lord, move faster,” but “Lord, move deeper.”

Each week of the devotional helps you discover the word God is speaking into your current season — and gives you space to reflect, breathe, and grow through it.

If you’ve been walking through a slow season, this devotional is for you.
It’s not about rushing ahead… it’s about being present in what God is already doing.

A Word for You

Maybe today your heart feels restless. Maybe you’re waiting on clarity, healing, or a breakthrough.

Friend, hear this truth: God hasn’t forgotten you.
He’s working even when you can’t see it.

Sometimes, the word you need most isn’t “go” or “stop.”
It’s “wait.”

Because in the waiting, God is still writing.
And the story He’s crafting in the quiet will be worth every moment you trusted Him through it.
